Visual for Air conditioner installation checklist

This article provides general information. Equipment, capacity and fault decisions should consider the site and current manufacturer documentation.

Position the indoor unit for air distribution

Avoid directing continuous airflow at occupants, keep intake and discharge clear and leave access for maintenance. Wall space alone should not determine the position.

Provide outdoor airflow and safe service access

Install the outdoor unit within the manufacturer clearances, with unrestricted airflow and safe access. The mounting surface and possible vibration transfer should also be assessed.

Test drainage and condensate discharge

The drain must maintain a suitable fall to a safe discharge point. Condensate flow should be tested during commissioning.

Do not omit vacuum and leak checks

Copper pipe diameter, length and elevation limits are model-specific. The system should not be commissioned before appropriate evacuation and connection checks are complete.

Verify electrical supply and operation

Supply, protective devices and connections must match the equipment requirements. Cooling or heating, drainage, noise and control functions should be checked at handover.
